What is the Role

We are looking for a qualified accountant to play a leading role in the operation of our finance team.

You will be directly responsible for managing the £20.0m budget held by the PCC to run their office, which includes commissioning services to support victims of crime and running the West Mercia Police estate. You will also have an active role in leading work around the Joint Audit Committee and Risk Management.

You will also support the Treasurer in the key role of oversight and scrutinising £240m of police spend. You will also need to provide key and trusted advice to senior leaders around budget builds and medium term financial plans each year to deliver the best possible services to local communities.

The Treasurer is the S.151 officer and has a statutory role in providing financial advice to the PCC and ensuring financial plans are legal and affordable. This role would require you to deputise as S.151 officer in the absence of the Treasurer.
