HR Assistant

This role is due to commence in June 2021

 

The main purpose of the role is to provide advice and guidance on policies and procedures, terms and conditions of service, Police Regulations and employment law. 

To provide an efficient and effective customer focused HR transactional service.

 

Main Responsibilities:

To provide general guidance and support with complex transactions, escalating more complex issues to the appropriate team.

To process and take responsibility more complex transactions covering all aspects of HR activities.

To administer Police Officer promotion, Fast Track and other retention and progression processes.

To provide administrative support and advice on routine pay and reward processes, including applications for Bonus and Honorarium payments and ARC.

To provide administrative support for the Job Evaluation process including attendance at Panels to record grading decision rationales.

To input, maintain, retrieve and present management information in a user friendly format via HR ORIGIN database and other associated systems.

 

To support the HR Business Partners in the administration in the latter stages of performance, attendance and conduct cases. To also provide support with Management of Change, Case Management and Recruitment.

To provide management information as requested.

To support in the training and development of the HR Assistants including apprentices.

To highlight service improvements and propose changes to HR administration processes.

To support the allocation of transactions, if required.

To promote the use of the ‘You at Work’ intranet provision, process maps and the ORIGIN HR Self Service facility.

To work collaboratively with other HR colleagues and departments to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective HR service.

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, including cover for colleagues, as required.

 

Experience/Skills:

Knowledge:

5 GCSEs, Grades A-C or equivalent including Maths and English.

An understanding of basic employment legislation.

Experience:

HR experience, including a thorough understanding of complex HR transactional activities, processes and conditions of employment.

Experience of working as part of a team in a customer service environment.

Key Skills:

Competent in the use of IT including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook) and HR databases.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to deliver customer service within a team environment.

Proven ability to manage high process driven workloads in accordance with strict deadlines.

Ability to enter information accurately using appropriate IT systems.

Ability to retrieve statistical information and present clearly and concisely.
