Exciting new role to join a very busy Policy and Performance team in Criminal Justice Dept. We are looking for a dynamic individual who has significant supervisory and/or management experience of teams and a developed interest and clear understanding of performance data within an analytical background. Overall knowledge of the criminal justice system and use of reporting tools would be desirable.

The main purpose of the role is to research legislative and procedural changes identifying areas for improvement, analysing impact on business processes and working with Criminal Justice Managers to develop strategies to implement the required changes. 

To monitor and improve criminal justice performance in conjunction with the CJ Managers, and other areas of the Organisation such as AS&I, and Corporate Comms

 

Main Responsibilities:

Provide a project management service for a programme of business change activity and monitoring arising from the Ministry of Justice, ACPO leads, College of Policing, and local CJ agency initiatives. Including initiation, planning, implementation, change management and resource planning, communication together with risks, issues and benefits management.

Research, develop and provide management reports summarising activity and recommendations for change for the business area.

Identify, develop and implement changes to policies ensuring full consultation with internal and external partners.

Develop analyse and present business development case work/performance data across a range of business portfolios, ensuring it is appropriately marketed and communicated both within the organisation and to outside Partners and Agencies.

Represent the Command and Force at local and national level.

Be the Operational Service point of contact for major new IT systems in the Criminal Justice arena. 

To act as a specific point of contact for criminal justice national, regional and local policy and procedure.

Overall management responsibility and direction of Policy and Performance staff and Youth Offenders constables

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

 

Experience/Skills:

Knowledge:

Management Level 4 qualification.

Significant working knowledge and understanding of the overall criminal justice process.

Good understanding of statistical evaluation.

Experience:

Project management skills.

Significant experience in an administrative and legal environment.

Experience of reviewing and developing protocol, procedure, systems and structure.

Experience of managing staff

Key Skills:

Proven ability to work to strict deadlines, managing a high and diverse workload.

The ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to influence and negotiate with others.

Excellent oral and written communications.

Competent in the use of IT, including Microsoft packages or equivalent.
