At Warwickshire Police we are on an exciting journey to return to being an independent force by spring 2021. This brings with it significant opportunities to establish our own operational ICT team and thereafter to transform our ICT to provide efficient, effective and modern services to our staff and officers. We are looking for a range of experienced and enthusiastic ICT professionals to help build the team and contribute to strategic improvements.

The main purpose of this role is to ensure a stable and secure network and infrastructure and an effective live ICT operation through the provision of local support and robust supplier partnering.
Main Responsibilities:
To lead, coach, and develop managed staff, and ensure that they are aligned to the organisational ethos and strategy
To contribute to, constructively challenge, and take collective responsibility as part of a united ICT Leadership Team
To be a key advisor to the Head of ICT in relation to the readiness and feasibility of adopting the digital policing agenda, and provide effective and professional representation at national policing/government events
To keep the WPICT supplier landscape under review in order to work towards efficient and effective supplier/service integration and management
To provide effective supplier management and governance with individual suppliers and across them, with a strong focus on continuous service improvement and value for money
To assess and appropriately challenge supplier proposals and designs for infrastructure, network and security improvements, including reviews of associated commercials

To oversee the introduction and maintenance of good practice (asset management, problem management, etc.) across the ICT operational services team proportionately and pragmatically
To ensure the stability and ongoing improvement of the network, and infrastructure
To ensure a regime is in place for patching, back-ups etc. and standard low-risk changes
To ensure that technical security measures meeting national policing standards are in place, monitored, tested, and maintained
To ensure that appropriate and regularly tested ICT continuity and recovery arrangements are in place to meet the organisation’s needs
To ensure that suppliers maintain both technical documentation and architectural diagrams, working closely with the ICT Solutions Improvement Manager
To establish a culture of service within the function that is centred on achieving an appropriate balance between the needs of the organisation, specific departments, and individual end users
To ensure a responsive and organised service desk exists to triage incidents and requests and deliver local or supplier support, as appropriate
To ensure that the ICT local support function can provide timely and properly prioritised solutions to end users’ problems
To lead the response to any ICT major incident (delegating to the ICT Technical Security Lead where appropriate), coordinating with suppliers and colleagues to manage expectations and reach resolution
To oversee effective processes for providing statistical reports, non-standard requests, and other received intelligence to other ICT leadership team members for further assessment
To take responsibility for any delegated budgets, working closely with the commercial and financial colleagues in ICT Strategic Services.
To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required
