Warwickshire Police has an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for research and policy. In the role you will be involved in a range of activities, such as helping us to set and deliver our strategy, scanning the external policy environment, support us to manage risk and ensure our policies are effective. You may already have direct experience in these areas or have relevant learning that is transferable, for example as part of a degree. You will have strong written skills but most importantly be passionate about developing and learning in this area. 



The main purpose of the role is to support the delivery of an effective business planning, risk management and policy and procedure framework for Warwickshire police. 


Main Responsibilities:  

To support all aspects of the strategic planning process, ensuring all relevant planning cycles are aligned and all key stakeholders are involved in the planning process.  

To support the production of key strategic documents e.g. force management statements, annual governance statements, ensuring final approved documents are produced to required timescales and legislative compliance, and are suitable for publication. 

To devise and implement business planning processes and timeframes, to co-ordinate returns and updates to track progress against business planning and strategic and tactical risk registers. 

To manage the policy and procedure database and website, ensuring a record of live policies and procedures and review dates, advising and supporting policy owners of their requirements. 

To undertake scanning and dissemination of the external policy environment to identify any issues that may be relevant to Warwickshire police.  

Co-ordinate and respond to requests for information that fall within the remit of the policy environment e.g. requests from NPCC, Home Office.  

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required. 

 

Experience/Skills:  

Knowledge 

Degree (level 5 qualification) or equivalent.  

A good understanding of the policy environment within policing. 

Knowledge of, risk management processes. 

Desirable – understanding of business planning frameworks.

 

Experience: 

Experience of environmental analysis, researching strategic issues, business planning and strategy formulation.  

Experience in policy management. 

Desirable – experience in risk management.

 

Key Skills: 

Excellent planning skills and ability to work to deadlines. 

Excellent ability to summarise and articulate key points from large complex information and inform recommendations. 

An eye for detail and ensuring consistency and accuracy. 

Excellent communication skills both oral and written, including the ability to produce reports. 

Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft packages.
